Our
Mission.
Cascada Expediciones
services are designed to create a worthwhile experience
and deep exposure to nature and culture. Our mission can
be stated as:
- Create and
provide quality Tourist Services, innovative and with the
highest value in terms of the life experience related to
it.
- Promote the
benefits of Nature and Wilderness in its many forms, facilitate
the discovery of the primitive spirit and create a deep
understanding and respect to it.
- Provide
the best life conditions for all the ones working at Cascada
Expediciones, assuring it to become a tool for personal
and professional development.
- Participate
actively in the larger community serving it through contributions
of employment and to respect and care for the environment.
- Develop and
promote Tourist Services which are environmentally sustainable,
to provide ecotourism.
As part of
our environmental mission fulfillment we became members
of The International Ecotourism Society(USA) and gained
information, understanding and experience from it that have
helped us to model our own operations to follow the principles
of ecotourism and to serve as an example to others.
As part of our quality mission fulfillment we were the first
outfitter in South America to provide its guides with the
Wilderness First Responder degree, training which is widely
valid and accredited within the US and Canada. Since 1996
we have been bringing experts from the Wilderness Medical
Associates to train our staff as well as other local outfitters.
Our
Team
-At
the office
We are a small and efficient team with good professional
qualifications although we dress in shorts and sandals.
-In
the field
These are the lucky ones that spend the best time in Chile´s
best natural marvels away from computers and from busy Santiago.
At the same time they are the ones with the biggest responsibility
of all, taking good care of our guests and helping them spend
the best time of their lives. They combine a good measure
of sensitivity, fun and professionalism. Most of them feel
very much as if they were in a big family and at Cascada we
feel proud of offering this and hope to keep fulfilling their
expectations as time passes. In high season( Nov-Mar) the
field staff becomes quite large, reaching 25 in-house guides
plus some 6 free lance specialist guides.
Our
Environmental Scope
Chile´s
diverse and marvellous environment is a gift to us and we
feel in need to repay nature for all what we have received.
As part of our commitment to support the environment, Cascada
joined The
International Eco-Tourism Society (VT-USA) in 1996 and
has gained background, understanding and experience to model
Cascada´s own operations and o serve as an example to
the others.
Our
Quality Commitment
We
offer our guests the most rewarding experience by means of
travelling to a remote destination such as Chile or Argentina
with the highest degree of safety. comfort and exposure to
nature and culture. As part of Cascada´s safety mission
fulfillment we became the first outfitter in South America
to provide the guides with the Wilderness
First Responder degree, training wich is widely accredited
in the US and Canada.
Our
Equipment
As a specialist Adventure & Nature Outfitter which organizes
river, mountain and desert trips we have a lot of high quality
gear, most of it imported from recognized brands. The equipment
is carefully maintained, cleaned, stored, repaired and replaced
if necessary to fulfill safety and comfort standards. There
are some pieces of our equipment which are very genuine from
this part of the world such as our horse riding equipment
and some components of our Patagonia
Ecocamp.
Our
Vehicles
It is worth mentioning the vehicles we use since the variety
of terrain, and sometimes the rude climate and high altitudes
in Chile demands a thoughtful selection of them. For most
of the Altiplano drives and Atacama tours we use 6-seater
4x4 (a) and strong 10-seater American vans (b). For approaching
mountain base camps we use 4-seater 4x4 pick ups(c) which
are also employed in self-drive tours in Patagonia and with
small parties at the lake District and Patagonia. For the
Central Andes and lake district where roads are good we use
12-seater Korean vans(d). In Patagonia we use vehicles type
(b), (c) and (d).
